Research to Action for Impactful Child and Adolescent Health Solutions

Translating evidence into practice, advancing child and adolescent health care in Africa through policy, partnerships and practice.

At the heart of STREPP lies the mission to end AIDS among children by 2030 by bridging the critical gap between research and practical, real-world application across the African continent. Through its three flagship programs — UPART, IPHASA, and PAHLCA — STREPP is fostering a movement where evidence becomes impact.

STREPP Initiatives

Uniting Knowledge & Implementation

At STREPP, we unite knowledge and implementation through collaboration with key stakeholders to transform paediatric and adolescent health care. Through our three core initiatives—UPART, IPHASA, and PAHLCA—we foster local and continental solutions that save lives, strengthen systems, and drive sustainable change.

UPART

A dedicated observational paediatric HIV cohort generating robust evidence on paediatric and adolescent HIV treatment. UPART uses existing facility-level electronic medical records in real-world settings to inform evidence-based implementation, so that health facilities across Uganda—and ultimately Africa—can deliver effective, scalable paediatric ART programmes.

PAHLCA

PAHLCA brings together Ministry of Health teams from over 30 African countries who lead the implementation of paediatric and adolescent HIV programmes. Participants share best practices to foster learning and innovation, and to address policy and implementation barriers. Through implementation science capacity building, participants gain hands-on experience in integrating evidence-based HIV care into national programmes.

IPHASA

This biennial symposium gathers researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and development partners from across the continent. IPHASA is not just a conference; it is a platform where African researchers share their research findings, strengthen their capacity in implementation science, and access research grants to address programmatic gaps in their respective countries.
