Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to a special virtual workshop: “How to Write a Winning Abstract,” scheduled for 15 July 2026 at 4:00PM - 6:30PM EAT. This session is designed for everyone at all career stages who want to sharpen their scientific communication skills and increase their chances of acceptance at not just STREPP events but also at major conferences.

During this 120-minute interactive event, we will break down the anatomy of a successful abstract, covering:

  • The “hook” – crafting a compelling title and opening sentence that grabs the reviewer’s attention.
  • Structured clarity – writing concise background, clear objectives, reproducible methods, and impact-focused results (even with preliminary data).
  • The take-home message – framing a strong conclusion that answers “so what?” and highlights novelty.
  • Common pitfalls – how to avoid vague language, overclaiming, and exceeding word limits.

We will also provide real examples from past submissions, showing you what reviewers look for and how to score highly in each evaluation criterion.

Important Update – Extended Deadline

Good news: the STREPP abstract submission deadline has been extended to 29 July 2026. This gives you extra time to refine your work – and the perfect opportunity to apply what you learn in our workshop before you submit.

The Scientific Committee of the 4th International Paediatric HIV Symposium in Africa (2–4 December 2026) invites high-quality abstracts on scientific, programmatic, policy, or implementation work aligned with the conference themes and relevant to knowledge, practice, or decision-making.
