PAHLCA 2026 Conference
Uganda

Africa’s country teams gather to turn HIV learning into action.

The 2026 Pediatrics and Adolescent HIV Learning Collaborative for Africa brings Ministry of Health teams, programme leaders, clinicians, implementing partners, researchers, community voices, and regional stakeholders together in Uganda to share what works — and move practical learning into national paediatric and adolescent HIV programmes.

A practical conference for countries doing the work.

PAHLCA is built around a simple but powerful idea: African countries have lessons worth sharing. Across the continent, national teams are testing, adapting, and scaling approaches to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, retention, transition, psychosocial support, and long-term care for children and adolescents living with HIV.

The 2026 gathering in Uganda will create a focused space for country teams to exchange implementation experience, discuss programme barriers, learn from evidence-based practices, and strengthen collaboration across national HIV responses. This is not just a meeting of presentations. It is a working room for practical learning, honest reflection, and programme improvement.

Who should attend

Built for national teams and the partners supporting them.

PAHLCA 2026 welcomes the people responsible for moving paediatric and adolescent HIV programmes from policy into service delivery: Ministry of Health programme teams, clinicians, district and facility leaders, implementing partners, civil society, community representatives, youth advocates, researchers, and development partners.

Ministry of Health teams

Connect with fellow national programme leaders working on PMTCT, paediatric HIV, adolescent HIV, and related child health priorities.

Implementers & clinicians

Share frontline lessons from service delivery, retention, adherence support, differentiated care, and adolescent-friendly programming.

Partners, researchers & communities

Contribute evidence, programme support, implementation science, advocacy, and lived experience to strengthen country-led action.

Why PAHLCA matters

Because evidence only matters when it reaches children, adolescents, and families.

The strength of PAHLCA is its practical, action-oriented character. It gives country teams room to compare implementation models, share tools and learning materials, build relationships, and identify solutions that can be adapted across different health systems.

In Uganda this year, the conversation continues: how do African countries move faster, learn better, coordinate more effectively, and close the persistent gaps in paediatric and adolescent HIV care?
